Husky Pressure Washer Reviews

June 22, 2019 by Gavin

Husky is a brand sold exclusively in Home Depot. With over 80 years of experience they have used that to produce everything from Husky tool storage ,every type of hand tool set you can think of all the way to Husky portable air compressors and their accessories.

Some where they decided to try their hand at selling Pressure Washers, which I give them credit for since most of the other tools they have made are very popular with DIYers.

Many of the Husky hand tools even come with a lifetime guarantee and a hassle free return policy. However, for this gas pressure washer oddly they decided to only offer a 90 day warranty. Very worrying don’t you think ?

So what do you need to know about this Husky Pressure Washer Review ?

Well, first things first is the 2,600 P.S.I. and 2.4 G.P.M. knocking out 6,240 Cleaning Power Units. This means it is a VERY capable machine for around the home. There’s not much dirt that can get in this pressure washers path that it wont be able to blast away.

How about the engine ?

Following Johnson from Reviews Radar, the main reason someone would buy a gas pressure washer over an electric is its portability and extra cleaning power. You can check his review here for more details

You really need to make sure you are getting something that will live up to this.

The engine on this pressure washer has two possible options. You had the choice of purchasing either a robust Honda or an economical Kohler engine to power this machine.

It cost about $399 to get the Honda GVC160 overhead cam engine layout compared to the Kohler which came in at around $299.

What do you get for the more expensive Honda ?

Its much quieter than its cheaper cousin the Kohler but if your expecting it to make the same level of noise as say an electric pressure washer you are out of luck.By their very nature they are louder but this is the quietest of a loud bunch.

Another feature is its ability to start maybe 95% of the time within the first pull of the cord.

At $399 these are a huge reason to buy this machine over its competition .Honda really do know how to make a small engine.Anything I’ve used with a Honda inside has purred like a kitten for years after I got them. They just work.

How about the cheaper Kohler ?

As for the Kohler. Its a very reliable engine in its own right.I mean its $100 cheaper than the Honda for a reason. Which is not to say its a terrible engine because its not.

This brand is very popular to be used in many outdoor tools like chainsaws, tillers, portable air compressors and most often you’ll fine them powering your gas driven lawn mower. So its not like your getting some cheap copy from China that’s only going to last you a few hours and possibly deafen you in that time as well.

What about the brains of the machine – The Pump ?

It was going well up to this part wasn’t it !

Somewhere in the planning stages of this they must have put a lot of work into designing it to look nice ,deciding to use a good quality engine and choosing to mount it on a strongly constructed frame.

Some where they did not put any effort into was planning the pump.

A quick search online for other Husky Pressure Washer Reviews will show hundreds of angry customers all complaining about the same problem.

Some complaints range from the pump ceasing to function on its trial run to it seizing up completely dead on the 8th use ( if you were lucky to get it to last that long that is )

Perhaps there is some happy customers, I don’t know since usually angry people are more motivated to leave a comment than a happy customer but you can’t ignore the amount of people all talking about the same problem ….. The Pump.

As I have mentioned in my post about Electric Pressure Washer Reviews the pump is the most important part of a washer next to the motor or the engine. You simply cannot have one without the other. It seems though, Husky attempted to with this Gas Pressure Washer.

But cant I just get a replacement I hear you cry ?

Sure you can , but it will just break again as many other users can testify to and then as soon as that short 90 day warranty expires your on your own.

Now I should mention that some people have said they got a replacement pump that was similar but of a much higher quality but this is only really an option if you bought the thing in the first place….. also if you don’t mind shelling out another $100 for a new pump and shipping and then whatever a technician will charge you to take out the old pump to replace it with the new one.

Is there anything else to discuss in this Husky Review ?

Not really, This is normally about the time I talk about the accessories you get with the washer and talk about how to best use the features that come with it but these Husky’s are a real dud. I don’t think there is much more to discuss here.

Which is so strange since Husky is a signature brand for such a huge company like Home Depot….. it’s like nobody bothered to do any trials before shipping them to the stores around the country.

Its even gotten so bad that Home Depot have removed these pressure washers from the shelves at their stores which is something at least, but little consolation for the people who have already spent their cash on these pieces of expensive scrap metal and more than likely turning them off Home Depot for a very long time.

If your still considering buying a Husky Pressure Washers after all this can I please show you some of these magic beans I have for sale ?

Pressure Washer Safety

May 30, 2019 by Gavin

When good pressure washer safety is practiced you can do things like this. Photo is from here

From time to time we find ourselves being challenged by our surroundings, in some of those situations we may be the ones causing the challenge and that is especially true when it comes to the way we handle our equipment.

For the most part, the equipment we use is pretty basic and uncomplicated, on the other hand, when dealing with a pressure washer, there are a few things that we should be a little more cautious about.

The thing you need to remember about our equipment is that there are several areas that need to be addressed, like

  1. the safety of the equipment
  2. the right way to use your equipment
  3. your personal safety

Using your equipment

  • Avoid using a nozzle that gives you little or no control, especially since this can damage the surface that you are working on. A lot of people just dive in and pick up the smallest nozzle available and turn on the machine. You need to be careful with this because some of these smaller nozzles can be so strong they gouge lines into the material you are cleaning. Start lightly on an area you’re working on that won’t be seen so easily so if you mess up it is not a big problem.
  • Make sure that you have the right cleaning product for the task at hand, remember that there are many products on the market, the cheaper ones may not necessarily satisfy your needs. Also be aware of where the cleaners are flowing to,the wrong place can get you into a lot of trouble. You can also read here about a news report were a professional pressure washer cleaner mixed the wrong cleaning chemicals and resulted in him getting burns and lacerations.
  • If you are using your pressure washer to clean the side of your home or office, you should begin the process from the top and work your way to the bottom to avoid streaking. If in any doubt if you can or can’t reach something just use an extension like this , It is a terrible idea to use a pressure washer on a ladder.
  • Follow all safety features provided with your pressure washer, they are intended to protect you while you work.So many people forget to do this basic action , never mind that you are missing out of information to keep you safe but more than likely it will tell you how to work the machine properly so that it lasts you longer.

Here is a story from the BBC about some guys who were cleaning with an industrial sized pressure washer and had it explode on them causing all three of them burns.

User Safety

As the operator, you should know the requirements of your pressure washers and what (if any) risks could be involved. The following precautions should be taken for anyone actually using the equipment.

  • This is not a toy, in fact if improperly handled it has the ability to cut through skin, don’t point it in the direction of humans or animals. Every month in ER’s around the country someone is wheeled in who tried to wash the dirt or soap off their legs with a pressure washer and ended up going through a few layers of skin. Do not do this , not even for a little second. You can read here about what happened to this guy here who did just this. To give you a better idea of just how powerful one of these can be take a look at this video or a pressure washer versus a watermelon
  • Avoid spraying close to electrical wiring, or power lines. This usually happens when people start spraying near roofs and high walls.
  • Because of the intensity of the spray coming out of the nozzle, users should never operate a pressure washer without wearing goggles, or any other protective device on their face. This is especially true to protect your eyes if you are using cleaning products since the soap can mix with the mist after hitting the surface and enter your eyes. Also you need to make sure your wearing face protection when removing mold as this to can enter your eyes and even get breathed into your lungs.
  • As the user you should not only wear protective gear on your face, your feet should also be properly covered. A lot of people (me included ) will crack out the pressure washer on a nice sunny day and forget that we are wearing flip flops or something similar. Really bad idea ,there is much better ways to cut your toe nails than this.
  • Avoid leaving the hose with it on or running and venture off, you may think that it is safe, but with so much water attempting to shoot out of the nozzle, it is not difficult for the hose to come alive.
  • Do not allow small children to operate your pressure washer, it may look like lots of fun for them, but in most cases they will not have the strength to control it. If you follow the above guidelines, your equipment will usually serve its purpose and you will be able to use it again and again, that is of course, if you take care of the equipment itself.

Here you can see an accident investigation where a worker died while operating a high-powered pressure washer.

Maintaining the equipment

If your pressure washer has a gas motor, you will also need to service it. Here are a few steps to take to keep your pressure running efficiently and avoid any problems in the future.

  • Pay attention to the oil in the engine and make sure it is at the recommended level. Some of the cheaper engines can burn through engine oil surprisingly quickly.
  • Don’t turn on the equipment until the water supply is in place. The number one way people damage their pumps is buying turning it on without fresh water running through the pump or else just leaving the engine running but not the pump. This can damage the seals inside the pump eventually breaking it completely.
  • Repairing a hose with duck tape is not advisable, it will not withstand the pressure and you will end up replacing it anyway. This usually happens after damaging the hose by driving over and pulling it along the ground and kinking it too much. With so much pressure running though the hose it is likely that it will soon burst in a very nasty way.
  • If you need to adjust the nozzle for the pressure washer, turn it off first. People lose fingers tips all the time when they think they can just twist it a little and everything will be ok.

This here is a story about a guy who hit his pinky with the spray and ended up needing a hospital visit and some plastic surgery to fix everything up – Pressure washer accident.

  • If you need to fill up the engine, wait until the machine has had a few minutes to cool down.
  • If you think something sounds dangerous, it probably is.

Owner Instructions

Some people believe that they can rent or purchase a pressure washer, take it home and just start using it, I mean it’s just water isn’t it. Fortunately, the ones who use that method are few and far between, or at least they change their method of thinking after getting themselves hurt. The owner’s manual should not only be read, it should also be carefully adhered to, if for no other reason but your own safety. With these steps in mind it’s never hard to stay up to date with pressure washer safety.

AR Blue Clean AR383 Review

May 30, 2019 by Gavin

So often we don’t do the research we should and as a result go out and buy a low end model that we soon end up regretting while it gathers dust as another …. well another dust collector, Soon,we quickly realize we would be better to spend a few extra bucks on a better model that will be a lot more useful for us in the future.

So that’s why today I am going to be reviewing for you the AR Blue Clean AR383 here at Pressure Washer Reviews HQ.

The initials AR stand for Annovi Reverberi ,this is a very well respected company in the high pressure pump business and as such have carried over their 50 plus years of experience in to AR Blue Clean ,a branch of their company to serve the pressure washer market.

Cleaning Power

The first thing I will talk about is the PSI on this machine. It packs a tough 1,900 pounds per square inch of grime removing power. This is the upper scale for PSI on an electric pressure washer. This directly translates to efficient stain removal for you the owner and not wasted time spent trying to clean your drive way.

Next up is the gallons per minute or GPM,With 1.5 gallons of water leaving the tip of the spray head this ensures a faster delivery of the 1,900 PSI I mentioned in the last paragraph.Once again this translate to faster cleaning for you. Most lower end models will be around the 1.25 gallons per minute area but the AR383 is at the higher end of the scale in this category. This mean the machine has 2,850 cleaning units which is not common to see at this price range.

If you need more information explaining what cleaning units mean you can read it here.

Pump

At the heart of this machine is the axial pump.Since these pumps are produced by AR themselves and with the high standards they are recognized for in the industry you can be sure you will be getting a very high quality piece of machinery.

Accessories

The hose length is 20 feet which combined with the 30 foot power cord and the wheels on this machine gives you a nice neat portable machine.

Something important to remember is that the included hose reel is intended for storage only. When you plan to use the hose you will need to unwind the hose completely off the reel and then use it ,I personally don’t use the hose reel as i have found the plastic hose has a mind of its own and will try and stay compacted up into small coils just like its still on the reel so most of the time I leave it wound into larger coils over the handle of the pressure washer instead. This saves a lot of headaches and I find it to preserve the hose for longer.Ideally the hose is made of rubber but this usually only comes included in high end washers.

Another topic I should warn you about is some other users have mentioned removing the gun handle from the hose to store it onto the reel.As i said already I don’t like doing that because of the coils but another reason is there is o rings. The main job for the o rings is to stop leaks. These are located inside the connectors that if you are not careful can fall out, then when you connect it back up again to clean your drive suddenly the gun leaks. This is most likely because the o ring has fell out somewhere.

I personally have not had any problems with the supplied garden hose connection.I believe the reason some people do is they have attempted to use it the wrong way round,So make sure you have all your connections in the right order and facing the right way.We are all guilty of skipping the instructions sometimes once in a while.

But if you still continue to have a problem you can try using teflon tape to shore up the joint .

What quite a few people have mentioned is go to a hardware store and buy a brass fitting as a replacement.Just be aware though that the AR Blue Clean AR383  uses metric fitting and not American fittings.Again this will make your washer does not leak like a sieve if you get this wrong.

People often mention the plastic fitting being flimsy , this is certainly true compared to a brass fitting but extra should be taken with either a plastic or brass fitting to ensure you always keep the hose leading into the washer straight… any other direction will put stress on the connection and most likely snap it in half.

Included in the box is also a soap dispenser…. this is exactly what it is .. a dispenser only.. some people think they are getting a high pressure water mixed with soap,It dispenses the soap at a similar pressure to a normal garden hose… you then let it soak and after a few minutes you will need to use the high pressure washer to do the heavy grunt work.

Some other reviews have mentioned that after switching between the accessories they find the water leaks out from the connection, AR have said that you need to push the lance into the spring loaded insert at the end of the gun handle and then twist it.Otherwise the the lance will just keep turning around .So make sure it is fully locked in place and wont have any movement or else you will be getting the wash and not your driveway.

A nice feature of this machine is the that whenever you release the trigger on the handle the pump turns off ,so you are not only saving energy but also saving wear and tear on the pump , also this makes it quiet when your busy doing other jobs.

When I making this review I had a stat that i needed clarifying. The AR blue clean customer service were very helpful in answering my questions and other reviews have  mentioned the customer service they received was impressive.I think this reflects the trust AR have in their products.

And Finally

Would I recommend this pressure washer.. Definitely….

Would I recommend it for using every day , Maybe…. there is some little niggles I had with it like the hose reel but over all I feel this is one of if not the best machine for around the home. With a top quality pump and high amount of cleaning units for a machine in this price range there’s not much jobs in the home that this machine cant tackle.

Tips for using a Pressure Washer

May 30, 2019 by Gavin

When your spending this much of your money on anything its important to understand it so we get our full use out of it and particularly with a pressure washer it is important to understand the safety concerns.

Used in the right hands we really can make our homes sparkle and shine to look just like new but there’s a few things we need to remember before diving in head first.

For operating we need to remember the following

  • Always apply the detergent you are using at at a low pressure,if you are not careful you may have the pressure washer set at too high a pressure to efficiently use detergent .The reason this is not a good idea is that you could end up blowing your detergent too thin a layer to be effective with all that power behind it.
  • If you feel there is not enough water coming from the tip compared to other time this could be that dirt has blocked the tip and is clogging the water. One way to clean this is to remove the tip from the wand, then use a straightened paper clip to push any dirt clear .To do this go from the outside of the tip to the inside.Another method I like is to bang it on a hard surface to loosen the dirt. Remember there is a lot of water pressure forcing whatever dirt is in there into that small hole so it can really jam itself in there.
  • Which leads me on to the next tip,If you find your tips are getting clogged frequently this could be a sign of dirty water in your area. Some pressure washers will have built in water filters to remove any particles from the water to stop this.Of course it would be wise to check your manual to find out if you do have a filter and where it is installed .However its very possible you don’t have a filter installed or that the interior of the hoses has started to degrade and this is what is now clogging up your tips.
  • If you notice any small leaks spring from your washer you should fix this before it snow balls into something worse…. small leaks can become big leaks very quickly when we are dealing with this much pressure.
  • Always ,always ,always keep your pressure washer away from freezing temperatures .Its very hard to completely dry out the internal parts of your machine and what happens next when it reaches freezing temperatures is that the water expands when it freezes and this expansions needs to go somewhere and unfortunately its at the expense of the seals and o rings inside your machine that suffer. If in doubt use an antifreeze. It is better to stay away from regular car anti freeze as this is toxic ,instead RV anti freeze is always recommended but if in doubt use a solution recommended by the manufacturer.
  • If you believe you have a low water pressure going from your water source to the washer some ways to cure this is to use a smaller diameter hose or pipe that leads into your inlet valve.
  • Make sure no air is inside the system. You will need to fix this at the source, usually it is nothing to do with the washer itself.
  • So maybe you have notice something is wrong and now wish to raid your tool box and have a go at fixing it.No problem ,but before doing anything to the machine always make sure you empty any pressure from the inside.Usually this happen when people attempt to fix something while the pressure washer was in use still.Empty it first of any pressure otherwise you have a time bomb on your hands.
  • Another tip I always remind people of is to never leave the pump running longer than a few minutes without water passing through it.
  • And by a few minutes I mean 1 to 2 and by water passing through it I mean if you don’t think your going to be using the machine because you will be doing something else turn it off. If the pump is left on for to long without fresh water pashing through itself the water will heat up and damage the seals and joints inside. And since the pump is the brain of your pressure washer, sometimes if this breaks its cheaper to get a whole new unit.
  • I know many people have been tempted to connect the inlet hose to a hot water faucet so that they have hot water coming out to help clean those really stubborn stains.I will admit.. its a good idea but please don’t do this unless you like supporting your local repair shop.Hot water will damage the seals and o rings causing a lot of leaks.
  • When your finished cleaning and your surveying all that great work you just did don’t forget to properly shut down your machine as per the instructions. Some steps people miss out on are not flushing clean water through the pump to remove any residual detergent that is left inside .Also if you have a engine driven pressure washer be sure to let the engine sit at idle for a few minutes to cool down properly. These are not super advanced high tech engines like we find in cars nowadays. They are fairly basic engines and need to be cared for to keep them in top condition. With a little love they will last a long time.
  • On Gas Engines always make sure the speed throttle is set to the highest speed. This is so the engine can spin the pump at a high enough speed so that the pump operates at high pressure.Otherwise the pump is not moving fast enough to build up enough pressure. If it is set too low ,a common symptom is the engine to run as usual but will shut off when the trigger is pulled or it may still work fine with the wide angle soap tip since this is not using water supplied at a high pressure.

Cleaning with a pressure washer.

  • As always when cleaning its very important to start at the highest part and work your way down to a lower level. This is to avoid any streaking from the dirty water flowing down onto a clean area.If you did not do this you will find that when the water dries you are still left with stains as most likely you did not rinse the area enough.
  • If you feel up to the challenge or removing graffiti also known as freelance art in some quarters usually what works best is pure power to smash it off….. however be careful to clean the whole wall afterwards or else you will be left with a graffiti shaped stain on your wall.
  • When using detergents ensure that you leave it on the stain long enough to work its magic. The longer you leave it the better….. however but mindful not to leave the detergent on for too long especially if it is in direct sunlight or else you could have a very unsightly detergent stain where you wanted a nice shiny driveway.
  • You might be very tempted to use hot water to make cleaning more efficient but we warned that hot water and wood = BAD .The hot water can cause the wood to expand and contract so much it can crack.
  • Try to avoid pointing the water in cracks and holes. This area is already weak and the water pressure can either enlarge the holes or force the water in to places you don’t want going. This is especially true for roofs or ventilation panels.

Safety tips for using a Pressure washer

  • It might be very tempting to use the water to rinse off suds or dirt from your hands or feet but never under estimate how powerful the water can be once its flowing.Sprayed at the wrong place the high pressure water can cause a lot of damage to someone or something. Don’t believe me ? Although she was using a weaker pressure washer and got off easy you can read here for what happened to Laura from My Home in Portugal. OUCH!!!
  • Hard to reach place ? Ladder available in the shed ? Do not use it. Ladders and pressure washers do not mix.Its a much safer idea to get a wand extension to reach higher.
  • If you are using a gas powered pressure washer and you start running low on gas it might seem smart to just top up the tank but this really is not a good idea.Always turn the machine off, allow it to cool down and then refill the tank.
  • Beware of pressure washers and using them on windows or glass in general. It may seem logical and convenient to use one on your windows but if your pressure washer in on the strong side you could do damage to them.Try instead standing farther away to lessen the pressure and also avoid directly spraying into the corners as the seals can very easily be compromised.
  • If the high pressure hose that comes from the pump to the wand is in anyway damaged stop using it.Always try to avoid any heavy weight on the hose also, like driving over it or anything like that as this can damage the hose internally where you probably won’t be able to spot any marks. If in doubt buy a new hose and learn from your mistake.
  • Do not make the mistake of thinking that once the machine is off there is no more pressure in the hose.Any water left inside the hose from the machine to the wand is still compressed to a high pressure and can still cause damage if aimed at the wrong place. So whenever you are finished always empty all the water from the system into a safe area.

I hope this post has helped you in some way in explaining how to use a pressure washer.

Karcher Pressure Washer Reviews – X-Series K5.540

May 30, 2019 by Gavin

Alfred Karcher is an inventor from Germany who in 1935 founded the Karcher company originally making submersible heaters for the metal industry. That’s a very long time so you can imagine they have been under the microscope of many pressure washer reviews. Eventually he took his expertise and started building pressure washers and continued to grow the business from their headquarters in Stuttgart.

Nowadays Karcher power washers are one of, if not the most popular brand of Pressure Washers today selling in over 130 countries worldwide with an estimated 50 million sold worldwide. In some countries Karcher is even a synonym for using high pressure water to clean items like pavements and cars.

They have even been trusted to preform cleaning work on Mt Rushmore and other well known National Monuments around the world. There isn’t many other Brands that can say that.

So lets get down to business.

What do you need to know about this Karcher ?

2,800 Cleaning Power Units , that’s how much dirt busting power is created from the K5.540. The machine itself has 2,000 P.S.I which is certainly on the upper end of P.S.I for a pressure washer but it only has 1.4 Gallons per minute of a flow rate.Click here to better understand why cleaning power units is important.

I think this is a little low for a machine that costs around $269 at amazon specially when you consider the AR 383 dishes out 2,850 cleaning power units and costs just under $155.

Is there something special that has caused Karcher to price their machine over $100 more than its competitor ? Is this the top of the line Pressure Washer people have been looking for ?

Premium Pressure Washer

This is exactly what the K5.540 is, let me explain.

Everybody is familiar with those cheap pressure washers that cost $50 from the local department store that last 10 hours before they turn into scrap and remind you never to buy a non-branded machine ever again.

Well Karcher brought out the X-Series in an attempt to cure all those bad memories you have of that one season wonder.

Im fairly sure if you look in the dictionary under “Durability” you’re going to find a picture of this K5.540. To put it simply, it’s built to last.

Like I said in this page about electric pressure washerlink reviews the two most important factors are the pump and the motor.

The Motor.

If the pump is the heart of an electric pressure washer then the motor is the brain. On this X-Series you have not only a top quality induction motor but it is also water cooled.

Karcher say this not only reduces the heat of the motor allowing it to be used for longer periods without fear of overheating but it can extend the life of the machine to 5 times more than its previous motors. I have a feeling in 10 years all pressure washers will have this feature.

Having said all that I still am a little skeptical as to how they can make that claim. It seems a little early to dismiss it though since I have not used it all that much.

To put it simply this motor is meant to last.

The Pump

Probably the most note worthy feature about the pump is its ability to siphon water from a standing water source like a rain collector ( provided you have a filter installed ). This really shows how strong the pump is since normally pumps that are siphon capable are found on expensive gas pressure washers.

Something I did not like so much about the pump though was that its still made of plastic. At this price range I think you should be getting an Aluminium pump at least. My idea is that Karcher preferred to put a top quality plastic pump into it instead of a cheap aluminium pump.

Combining the pump with this motor gives you a very quiet set up,Quite a few people have been surprised how quiet it is really backing up Karchers view on the water cooled motor.

One reviewer on Amazon even said after switching from a gas pressure washer to the X- Series he barely notice any drop in cleaning ability.

Its probably this that got it rated one of the top rated pressure washers in 2012 and I can see it still being at the top when 2013 is finished.

What other cool feature does it have ?

The best Pressure washer Accessory on it has got to the reel.On this is the 25 foot hose.

Normally ,I personally feel the hose reels are a bit of a gimmick but on this one it seems to work a lot better. Most of the time the hose is made from a cheap plastic so it’s inclined to coil up making it hard to unwind the reel but the hose on this is of a much higher quality.

As you can see from the video it quite easy to unwind and can be used while not fully removed from the reel….. again this is a good sign of quality since most other brands need to be fully off the reel before using.

****** One of the biggest and most common complaints the K5.540 gets is regarding the pressure washer tipping over when pulling on the house. Not only can this damage the housing but for most people it was snapping off the plastic connector that links up the garden hose to the inlet .

Something I never understand is why they don’t just give brass connectors instead.Surely Karcher of all companies know how annoying the cheap plastic connectors are.On top of that, I’m fairly sure they could buy them in massive bulk and it would cost them just a few cents to put it in the box and keep a lot of their customers happy.

If you need a replacement hose connector the one to order is via Home Depot’s website part #100617061 – Watts 3/4 in. Brass FHT x FPT Hose Adapter.

Anyways ,back on topic. To avoid the tipping over problem it is pretty simple…… Don’t pull on it… after all, there is a reason the reel has a hand crank.

How about the High Pressure Wands

Included is 2 different wands. The first one is the Vario Power Spray of VPS ,this has the ability to adjust the water pressure at the wand reducing the chance of causing any damage to what your cleaning since you can start on low and move up to max if you need. Most wands have this ability and I think they are just using some fancy words to make a normal product sound interesting. This one though feels of a higher quality even if it still is plastic.

But,they do also give you “DirtBlaster” spray wand. What this does is spray the water in a rotating cone shape instead of a plain old straight line.Karcher claim in their pressure washer review that its gives 50% more pressure .However ,im not exactly sure what it is 50% more than. All in all though im happy with the results from this wand since it does do a nice job on removing stains.

Integrated Detergent Holder

A great touch here is you can just fill up the bottle located on the back of the machine with the detergent and then on the front of the machine is a dial to adjust the amount of it that comes outs from the wand. The benefit of this is you are not wasting any and you can easily switch the detergent off an go back to using the regular wand to remove dirt and grime.

Karcher have a whole range of soaps for different cleaning jobs from cars to deck cleaning all the way to de-greasing formulas.Probably the most popular soap is the All-Purpose .The little sachets end up making 3 gallons of full strength formula and its biodegradable too.

The Karcher Accessories Commuinity.

The good thing about buying from this brand is you have such a huge amount of accessories to choose from. You can easily end up paying hundreds of dollars to cover any possible dirty job.

One of the most popular is the T 200 Surface Cleaner seen here in the video. These really help to speed things up and stop annoying splash back.

How about the negatives.

Well you’re right, Karcher likes to talk a lot about their “Rapid Exchange” service for when your machine breaks down. However quite a few people have said it is anything but rapid. They were basically told to take a ticket and wait their turn.Infact its very hard to find one good comment about this online.

I will say though as always people are more inclined to leave a bad comment than a positive one.So ,there could be positive comments out there but I sure didn’t find them.

Amazon are the ones who came out much better for their returns policy. Many reviewers on Amazon have said that when they made them aware of their problem a new unit was sent out and the delivery people picked up the broken one there and then.Totally bypassing any wasted time sending parcels back and forth.

Other places you can get this Pressure washer is Walmart and Home Depot.

Do I reccommend this Electric Pressure Washer ?

Absolutely, its a Rolls Royce of pressure washers.Any faults that I can find on it are trivial and if you use your head then you won’t have any problems with it.

Electric Pressure washers are just so easy to use and this one is no different.

Other Pressure Washers to consider are these :

The AR 383 is just about the same level of cleaning power units and is the number one selling Pressure Washer on Amazon at the moment not to mention around $100 cheaper.Click Here for my Review. But ,you don’t get the durability like you get with the X-Series.

Then there is the Karcher X-Series K3.540, This machine is again around the same cleaning power units as the K5.540 but does not come with a hose reel.If you think you are going to be one of those people that is going to knock it over or you don’t see yourself using the reel that much then save your money and get this one. You can click here for the latest Price on Amazon .
